Cactus Abatement

The final first-pass treatment of the cactus over growth in the Common Areas are about complete. The north end of the East Ranch Road is the last area to be treated.

Spraying by hand-sprayer was done first where cactus growth was near or under any oak trees. Once that was completed, a different chemical was used with a dye to allow tracking of the treated cactus stands. (A red dye was used at first but was later changed to a blue dye which was easier to see)

Treatment of the cactus began in December 2016, but was limited by weather and temperature. In the last week, the warmer temperatures have allowed the treatment to rapidly progress.
